Beauty Sleep

As a night-owl who struggles with insomnia, I've truly seen a difference in my skin when I do not to get adequate rest. My complexion loses its vibrancy and moisture paving the way for breakouts after nights of sleep deprivation. This experience emphasized the role that sleep plays in maintaining skin prompting me to prioritize restful nights.

Sleep Tea: Herbal Infusion

Among the habits I've incorporated is savouring a crafted herbal tea intended for relaxation and promoting sound sleep. Each night, before bedtime I brew this Sleep Tea herbal infusion using a blend of calming herbs known for their soothing effects. My preferred method involves preparing a cold-brew infusion to steep the tea.

Why Cold Brew?

Cold brews have become one of my favourite methods to steep my teas because:

  1. It gives you a richer flavour profile.

  2. Preserves the nutrients from the leaves which may be degraded by the use of heat.

  3. Reduces tanning (the compound that makes tea taste bitter).

  4. Makes tea less acidic which is gentler on the stomach.

  5. Longer steep time allows for more potent nutrient rich tea.

  6. Easy to adjust the flavour based on the length of steep time.

How to Prepare Sleep Tea

My favourite bedtime concoction consists of chamomile, passionflower and valerian root. These natural ingredients not aid in promoting sleep. Also provide skin enhancing antioxidants. This straightforward yet efficient routine has made a difference, for me contributing to skin and improved overall health.
