Strengthening Teeth Naturally; My Experience, with DIY Solutions and Organic Products

I've always had delicate teeth and despite my consistent oral care routine, I've battled cavities since I was a kid—more than 20 times to be precise. It's not because I neglect flossing or brushing; I've always been very careful about taking care of my teeth. My teeth are naturally fragile. My love for sweets has made me even more susceptible to dental problems. Recently my partner and I made the decision to completely eliminate sugar from our diet. This change has been enlightening as it has allowed us to truly savour the sweetness in fruits of the artificial sugars we used to consume.

Natural Remedies

In my efforts to fortify and remineralize my teeth, I have been experimenting with homemade remedies. One approach I have tested is oil pulling using coconut oil. Though I have only tried it a few times, it is renowned for its benefits in enhancing oral health by reducing bacteria and promoting stronger teeth.

Moreover I have incorporated a xylitol toothpaste from Boka into my routine. This natural toothpaste is vegan, cruelty free and free of fluoride which's important, to me. The xylitol included in the toothpaste is meant to help strengthen enamel and promote tooth remineralization. With my teeth reacting to cold and certain foods, I'm counting on this toothpaste to provide some much needed relief. I'm optimistic that it will make an impact.

DIY Mouthwash

To enhance my health regimen further I took the initiative to craft my mouthwash. The process turned out to be surprisingly straightforward. The outcome was quite satisfying.

you will need:

  • Clove

  • Sage

  • Salt

  • Baking soda

  • Peppermint essential oil

  • Distilled water

how to make:

  1. Combine clove, sage, salt, baking soda into a pot of distilled water, and bring to a boil.

  2. Cover the pot, and turn the heat down to low. Let steep for 15 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat, and set aside to cool.

  4. Once the temperature is warm enough (check by putting your pinky finger in it for 10 seconds), add a few drops of essential oil to taste.

While the original recipe suggests using peppermint oil for a mint flavor, I chose tea tree essential oil instead for its antibacterial benefits despite not giving off the typical minty taste – it provides a distinctive aromatic touch. Since this homemade mouthwash has a shelf life of one week, I plan to use it for the week and observe its impact on my oral health.

Upon trying it I found that my breath felt noticeably fresher. The whole experience was pleasant. I look forward to integrating this mouthwash into my daily routine moving forward.

I'm looking to boost my health and keep my smile shining by trying out some remedies, like coconut oil pulling, xylitol toothpaste and homemade mouthwash. I'll let you know how it goes as I continue to test them out. If you've got any advice or have tried these methods before I'd be interested, in hearing your thoughts!
