How to Re-apply SPF over Foundation

One of the most important things you can do for your skin is to protect it from UVA and UVB rays emitted from the sun. We all know we are supposed to apply SPF every day, and reapply every 2 hours (that’s right, re-apply, now you know). This is especially important for the face (prevents premature aging and wrinkles! ... and other scientific things but you get the point!). If you're someone like me and you wear foundation all day long it’s nearly impossible to reapply without messing up your masterpiece.

Powder SPF is portable but doesn't give you enough coverage and don't get me started on the colour selection for dark skin. Ok what’s next, spray? Spray SPF is great but you can’t spray it directly on the skin because you can't breathe it in, one word... messy. SPF in the foundation? Nice try, but the amount you need to apply on your skin is far more than any amount of foundation you should be wearing!

Not to worry, I came up with the best way to reapply without messing up your face! What about DIY cushion SPF? I tried it out and it works wonders. Best of all, it’s super easy to do yourself and it will save you save a lot of money!

You're going to need a few things. A pair of tweezers, liquid SPF (mine is the Vichy Ideal Soleil Ultra Light Lotion 50 SPF), and of course your compact (mine is from Amazon )

Open up the compact and remove the sponge with a sanitized tweezer. Set the sponge aside.

Using a piece of tissue or a paper towel, sanitize the inside of your compact with some alcohol.

Pour out your liquid/milk SPF about 3/4 of the way inside the compact.

Use your tweezers to fit the sponge back into the container and continue squishing the sponge to help it absorb the SPF.

And you're done. Go ahead and try out your new SPF! Pop it right into your makeup bag and take it with you for on-the-go easy reapplication. You can lightly dust a translucent powder over the face for an extra matte look but the lotion SPF should dry down to a semi-matte.
