Top 5 Skincare No Nos ... And How To Fix Them

We all know the old and infamous beauty secrets that we simply love to follow. But how much good are they really doing for our skin? Are they really helping or are they actually making our skin worse? Here are the Top 5 no no's that most girls do with their skin regimens.

HARSH ACNE PRODUCTS
While it is good for your skin to use acne products because of obvious reasons - you have a lot of annoying pimples you want to get rid of - its easy to over treat your skin when strong acne products are not needed. Most main-stream acne products, cleansers in particular, are made for primarily teenagers who have acne on various parts of their face. These cleansers are supposed to dry out the skin so bacteria cannot breathe. However, if you don't have all that acne, then skip the acne face wash. All your doing is drying out the rest of your untouched face, allowing the dry skin to rest in your pores. And intern, can give you more pimples.

EXFOLIATION
I don't know where this idea that scrubbing your face allows your to clean deep into your pores and clean out all the dirt. Well to be fair, this is partially true, but we often over exfoliate and end up negatively affecting our skin. What we are most often doing is scrubbing away all of our natural oils in our skin and leaving dry skin in our pores. Which clog them with the dead skin, and therefore promote pimples and so on. Using cleansers with beads also do this which is why, you are supposed to do it only once in a while. Instead, get an oil free, or light face wash and use that daily. And please, let the cleanser do its job and don't aggravate your skin by scrubbing hard.

STEAMY SHOWERS
People have been convinced that taking steamy showers open your pores and allow deep cleaning. While heat does open the pores, staying in steam for so long, rids the body of its natural oils, making the skin very dry. As we have already covered, dry skin is a breading ground for acne, weird right. Which leads right into the next one.

TIP: Try to refrain from the long hot and steamy showers and settle for warm ones. Also run cool water over your body to cool down in hot weather.

OILY SKIN REGIMENS
A lot of girls with oily skin try not to put a lot of moisture on their faces to help them not look oily. So they use cleaning agents to dry out their skin. This is a big no no, because skin needs moisture no matter what type. In fact, by depriving the skin of oil, only makes it produce more oil. So it is imperative that every skin type uses some sort of facial lotion especially at night, when the skin is supposed to rejuvenate. Have a daytime and night time face routine to give the skin what it needs. For day, moisturizer that contain SPF to protect from the sun and at night, serums that give a lot of moisture deep into the skin.

PRODUCT JUNKIE
For some reason people seem to think that loading on the products does wonders for their skin. So they have acne cream, facial serum,  facial moisturizer, aloe moisturizer, vitamin enriched moisturizers, eye cream, wrinkle cream cream... the more the better. Once again, a total no no. Our skin does need to breathe. By loading our skin up on all these products we don't give each product the space and time to do its job. Certain chemicals in different products could have negative impacts on our skin when combined with other chemicals. Which can have harmful effects on our skin. Like most things, it is better to focus on one thing before moving to another one. For example, if your problem is acne, focus on that first to clear your acne, after that, your skin would have improved so you can start working on moisture and begin to use moisture products.

Just remember not to abuse these products. A little goes a long way.
