I Want To See A Dermatologist but Is My Acne That Bad?

I have personally had my fair share of every category of acne that exists. From mild, right up to severe acne, and never sought out the help of a dermatologist even when admittedly, I probably should have. In hindsight, it is something I definitely should have done right away but at the time I felt as though seeking professional help was like “giving up” or admitting that it was THAT bad - it was actually THAT bad - and I realize now that if I had just went I could have avoided a lot of my acne experience.

You should see a Skin Specialist if…

  • You have acne on your skin

  • You have fine lines

  • You have sensitive skin

  • You have hormonal acne

  • You have dark spots

  • You have rosacea

  • You have oily skin

  • You have dry skin

  • You are just starting out in skincare

  • You are a beauty enthusiast

  • You have skin

  • You are breathing

In essence, regardless of your skin type, condition, or level of knowledge, everyone can benefit from seeking professional help. It will save you from purchasing a ton of skincare products that either don’t work, are too strong for you, or are just simply not intended to treat what you need.

Do yourself a favor and see a dermatologist. Ask your doctor for a recommendation or a referral if you have mild to severe acne, or simply do your research on good skin professionals in your area. Let them examine your skin and tell you what you actually need. They can provide you with skincare advice specific to your needs, much more in-depth than a beauty quiz on Buzzfeed or Sephora.com. More so, Dermatologists and Estheticians can provide you with medical-grade treatments such as light therapy, micro-needling, micro-dermabrasion and so much more. It can be expensive, but it’s much better than going it alone. You see a doctor for your eyes, your teeth, and your overall health. You should be seeing a doctor for your skin too.
