6 Apps Every College Student Needs

Let's face it, college is hard. Between exams, managing your finances, that cool-on-paper demanding internship and juggling a social life, any relief that can make your 24/7 college-life daily routine a bit easier, is a bargain in my book. Today, I'm sharing 6 apps that every college student should download. Society19 has an entire collection of apps for every college student so if you want more apps to try, I recommend checking out their post on useful apps for college students.

In no particular order, let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

1. EASYBIB
You can use the Easybib platform either on the computer or straight from your phone. It makes writing citations for all of your essays so much easier. Simply take a photo of the barcode of your textbook/ or copy the ISBN into the search bar. The app will easily convert your source into the citation style of your choice; MLA, APA or Chicago, that you can then email to yourself for later or copy and paste right into the reference section of your essay and not have to worry about it again. Download for both IOS and ANDROID devices.

2. MINT

If there is one app I'd recommend for everyone regardless of student status to download, it's Mint. This app is a free online money management app that helps you keep track of your money goals. Stay on top of your finances with a clean overview of all your finances (all your spending accounts, bills, investments, debt, and much more). Its sleek design makes it easy to get a quick view of how you are doing and allows you to create goals to track your progress. Mint also features a handy blog full of information and tips to save more money geared toward your specific financial needs. Download the app for IOS and ANDROID devices.

3. CHEGG

Textbooks aren't cheap and when one can run you upwards of 300$, any help available to you is worth it. Chegg has got to be one of my favourite websites for renting and buying books online. It can save you up to 90% on all of your textbooks. Simply type in the name or ISBN of the book into the finder and select your textbooks. If you're renting your textbooks, you'll really get the most out of the service. A textbooks that costs 299$, you can rent for just 29$ (true story!). The shipping cost is included in the price, but its free for shipments over 50$ (basically order 2 books to get free shipping).  Chegg will ship out your books with a downloadable return shipping label. Simply pack your books back in your box at the end of the semester and ship your books back. It's super easy and can help you save a ton on textbooks. They also offer an downloadable app for both IOS and Android devices for studying and help with problems that arise in your courses.

4. NIKE TRAINING CLUB

Its easy to get stressed during school, that's why my biggest recommendation is keeping a weekly fitness schedule. Now, I'm sure we all don't have the time (or money) to get to the gym, and if your campus provides a gym it can often be busy when you're available to go. Nike Training Club features curated workout routines to reach your fitness goals. Its great for both beginners and pros and helps you track your improvement. Simply press play, and enjoy a guided workout with information on perfecting your form and follow along videos that make it feel like you have your own personal trainer right in your dorm room. Download the app for  IOS and ANDROID devices.

5. DRUNK MODE

For those drunk nights when calling your ex- sounds like a good idea, Drunk Mode is that extra friendly helper that prevents your from making a huge mistake. Simply turn on the feature before going out, select the contact (or contacts) that you don't want the option of embarrassing yourself in front of and you're ready for the night. The app immediately changes the name of the contact in your phone to a handy reminder not to call. It blocks you from calling and texting him-who-wont-be-named and the only way to turn it off is to answer a difficult question. I've tried answering the question while I was sober and it was still difficult so just know that your pride is safe with Drunk Mode turned on. Download the app on both IOS and ANDROID devices.

6. CIRCLE OF 6

With the Circle of 6 app, you're only two clicks away from letting your emergency contacts know when you're in danger, by sending them a quick message of your situation and your location. You can also send your location to the built-in safety hotline or emergency contact in your area by syncing it to your GPS. It's a simple app with powerful features that can be the difference between life or death when you're in a potentially dangerous situation. The app is available on IOS and Android devices, however, it seems as though there is an error with the link to Google Play. I've tried pulling it up on the web to no avail. I will continue to check the link, and when it works I will update it here and on Twitter so make sure to follow me.

These are some of my faves, I'd love to know what are some of your must-have apps for back to school?
