3 Things You'll Want To Know Before You Apply Makeup
So you wanna jump into the makeup world now huh? Okay, hold on a second. Please don't say that you went ahead and bought 200 dollars worth of makeup and slabbed it on your face! (You didn't? Okay good). Starting to put makeup on is kind of like a right of passage to being a girl (not really but lets go with it). But before you do, there are some things you might want to learn first.
Here are just a few tips I have for those of you just getting into the makeup scene! When I started out putting on makeup, to say I was a HOT MESS would be an understatement. But these 3 things helped me out a lot.
1. Beauty Gurus and Bloggers
So I think this one is a kind of a given and seeing as you're reading this, you're one step ahead of the game. Beauty blogs and YouTube channels are perfect ways to get into makeup. There is this huge community out there that is crazy about the same thing you are crazy about. When I started getting into makeup, I watched people like :
MichellePhan, Alissa Ashley, Nikkietutorials, EasyNeon and countless others for inspiration. They really got me into makeup. I definitely recommend seeing their channels out for information, products, techniques, tutorials and a whole bunch of other makeup related stuff.
One thing I forgot to mention that I loved about YouTube is that you can find tons of makeup artist's channels to watch and learn hands on from the best such as:
- Michelle Phan
- Kandee Johnson
- Wayne Goss
- PixiWoo
- Lisa Eldridge
- BobbiBrown
2. Makeup Manuals
Now I'm talking about beauty books from actual, longtime professionals in the business. Books such as the infamous Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual and the Lauren Conrad Beauty Project. The kinds of books teach you how exactly to apply makeup the right way. How to make it look natural on your skin and make it flawless as makeup should be. They go through basically every type of product and makeup brush known to man and tell you exactly what to use it for and such.
3. Practice Makes You Better
As mentioned above, don't dive into your makeup palette as soon as you get it and wear that bright blue eye shadow or panda bear Avril Lavegne liner out in public! (sorry Avril). Practice it at home, wear it around the house, get used to putting it on first. Practice might not make you perfect since no one is perfect but it makes you much better!
Practicing makeup isn't limited to your face, get yourself a makeup art book (regular art book with the thick paper) and practice your colour combination out on that first. This is an easy, hassle free, mess free way to try out all those colours and make sure they look good together.
