Current MAKEUP Trend That Need to Go 2017!

EVERY SEASON, there are some new makeup trends that are all the rage on the runways or that make an appearance on YouTube. This season, there is one makeup trend that I've seen that has started to generate some buzz, but unfortunately, I'm really not here for it.

Without further ado, the current makeup trend I think needs to go. Here is the run down.

STARK BRIGHT EYES

I saw this trend strut down the runway in Emporio Armani's latest collections. I think this chrome or even pastel application is supposed to give the eyes a minimalistic, futuristic, iridescent finish, but unfortunately misses the mark and leaving you looking like you got left behind in the 2000s. This look reminds me of that moment between mid-90s to early 2000s when mainstream media was obsessed with the idea that futuristic style meant anything shiny, silver and metallic. I'm talking, metallic lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish, hair accessories, plastic metallic skirt and all.

WHILE I do think a pastel orange-peach colour gives the face a subtle warmth while brightening up the eyes; anything silver, lavender, sky blue or pale green should be left in its own corner along with your halloween makeup. It's perfect if you actually want to look like a fairy, or a mermaid, but for everyday, its gonna be a no for me. Especially because on dark skin, anything pastel has a tendency to look ashy on the skin.

FOR THOSE with fair skin, the futuristic mermaid look might actually look very flattering on the skin because it doesn't overpower its paleness. On fairer skin-tones, darker and warmer shades tend to emphasize the paleness of the skin, so lighter pastel shades and chrome colours will look very bright and fresh without leaving the face void of colour. In that case, pull out every pastel mermaid-like eyeshadow you have in your arsenal and make the streets your own catwalk.

ON THAT NOTE when done right, chrome eyeshadow can give the eyes a dimensional aspect and add interest to to the eyes. Just please don't use the one colour all the way from the lash-line to the brow bone, we do not want to repeat the 80s.

OF COURSE this is just my opinion, and you are free to do anything you heart desires when it comes to makeup. But personally, I will be leaving this makeup look on the catwalk where it all started and will be skipping this trend for everyday wear.
