Contour is essential to every makeup look, and a good contour kit can make the difference between a beat face and a hot mess. Does the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit make the cut? As promised here is a review on this promising palette. 

The palette retails for $40.00 USD on the Anastasia Beverly Hills website. It has also finally became available at Sephora for $52.00 CAD.

The cream contour kit comes in four palettes: Fair, Light, Medium and Deep so there is a palette for every skin tone range.

The contour kit I have is in the shade DEEP, which comes with: two highlight colours: Nude and Cinnamon; one corrector shade: Coral and three contour shades: Chocolate, Espresso and Carob.

I have heard some people say that the creams have a dry texture. I believe this is because ABH didn't not want their creams be too oily, as they would look shiny on Oily and Combination skin tones. But they are not at all drying by any means.

The colours themselves are quite creamy and feel like butter. I have no problem blending them into my skin and they look beautiful on the face. I also don't have any problem with shininess (which is usually a problem for me with cream products).

Personally, I think the palette could have had a darker shade than Carob for contour, but this one shows up nicely on my shade. (For reference, I am a MAC NW45). I am happy however, that ABH included a dark palette for brown skin girls.
 

If you find Carob isn't dark enough for you, you can always reverse contour perfectly with this contour kit so no worries!

This is what the shades look like on my skin. They are very natural looking colours. The only thing I noticed, is that the Carob dark contour shade is pretty warm which ends up looking red on my skin to the point where I almost look like I'm wearing blush. 

For me this isn't problem because I don't mind the reddish look. If this is a problem for you, you might want to keep this in mind. Keep in mind that it is only the Carob that looks red, so don't worry about the other colours. 

Overall, I really enjoyed using this palette and am satisfied with its performance. It doesn’t leave a heavy feeling, and the colours blend into my skin nicely. If you have dry skin, this might not be for you, and if you are much darker than I am or you have very golden undertones, you may not like this palette. I think it’s okay, it is pretty expensive so you’ll want to be in love with the palette. I have it so I’ll use it, but I’m not obsessed with it.
