REVIEW: Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster

Vichy Mineral 89

This is the Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster by Vichy. It retails on their website for $49.95 CAD for 75 ml of product. It also comes in a 50 ml version for $39.95 CAD. It is a non greasy hydrating serum that soothes dry and dehydrated skin. It is made with “natural origin hyaluronic acid to strengthen skin’s barrier function.” Use after cleansing and toning skin, then apply a moisturizer on top to seal in hydration.

Hyaluronic acid does so many great things for the skin. From fine lines, darkness, redness, dryness and so much more HA can help combat these things. It is so gentle because HA is naturally found in the skin so basically you’re just replacing the hydration that is lost.

My Experience

Before I try a product, I always look at the ingredients first. I love that this serum has very few ingredients. It literally has “aqua”, an ingredient for texture and then everything else is under the 2% line (aka preservative and such). This is super because you’re getting the purest and potent form of HA.

The serum is a true liquid-gel consistency just like Aloe for example. Be sure to apply while skin is still damp so it’s takes those water molecules into the deeper layer of the skin. Unlike other HAs I’ve tried this one seeps right into the skin and isn’t sticky to the touch. It’s so light weight and works well with every other product you’re applying.

I use mine twice a day, morning and night. My routine usually consists of a cleanser, toner, Mineral 89, any other serum I’m using (aka Retinol or Vitamin C), rosehip oil mixed with my light weight moisturizer. That’s it.

I’ve been using this for about 3 months during the summertime. Around this time, my oily-combo skin loves to show just how oily it can get. But with this, because my skin is already hydrated it doesn’t feel the need to compensate and my oil has been under control. I have also noticed my fine smile lines around my eyes and above my brows get very plumped and barely visible. Now you’re going to need a retinol to see a lasting difference with fine lines but this gives you immediate results. Also because retinol is so dying, using them together will make it more comfortable to use the retinol.

Overall

I truly enjoy using this product. There are cheaper HAs that you can find on the market such as The Ordinary which I have also used and the more expensive ones like Peter Thomas Ross. However, this HA is right in the sweet spot price wise and nothing beats the texture. I do believe it is worth the price. At the end of the day, if you’re prioritizing quality then this would be the one I’d get. You don’t need to spend $80 for an HA, I think $50 should suffice. Plus you’re getting more product in this one by Vichy then wig the others I’ve mentioned. Do your skin a favour and pick up your Mineral 89. You’re skin will love you for it.
