REVIEW: Innisfree Olive Oil Serum

Innisfree Olive Serum

Just like everyone else I have been all but obsessed with Korean Wave of Skincare so when I saw this new release, and I just happened to need a new serum, I had to pick it up. This is the Innisfree Olive Oil Serum . It retails for $30.83 CAD for 50 ml of product.

I have mentioned before in my How To Choose Beauty Products For You video, that I have become very aware of the products I choose to invest my money in. Innisfree has been a brand very close to my heart for a while because of all of the things they stand for. There products are an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious brand, they are a part of the Green Eco Campaign committing to reducing carbon emissions made with 70% natural ingredients, they donate a percentage of their annual profits to charity. They also have a recycle program where you can return your empty bottles and they’ll recycle them for you. The list goes on and on, but I feel confident that I can purchase Innisfree products and feel as though I am doing great things for my skin and the environment.

On to the review!

Claims

This product claims to be “a deeply hydrating serum with nutritious olives that delivers moisture deep into your skin.” It is made from “the finest golden olives” to provide “24-hour hydration.” This product is paraben, synthetical colouring, mineral oil, animal-originated ingredient free.

The directions advise to shake well (as it is a mixture of oil and water), pour out into your palms (I prefer the tips of my fingers so my palms dont absorb the majority of the produt) and then apply to your entire face. For maximum absorption gently pat into the skin. It does contain glycerin (a humectant) so you’ll want to apply this to damp skin.

My Experience

The first thing I’ll talk about is the packaging. I do enjoy the simplicity of the bottle. I prefer my products to be very calming, sophisticated looking, its just the aesthetic I go for so this is very nice. The only thing I don’t like is the nozzle as you have to hold the bottle upside down for the product to pour out. It is not a liquid but it is still runny so you end up getting more than you wanted. Moreover, I prefer dropper bottles or better yet pump bottles for serums so less bacteria gets into the container. But okay, I’ll give it a pass.

I do enjoy the consistency. As I mentioned it is an oil-water mixture so you have to shake it well before using it. I comes out like a runny Aloe Vera consistency which makes it so easy to soak into the skin. It does not feel sticky on the skin as it absorbs very quickly. At night I apply two layers of it for extra hydration, and I think it would suit the colder months well. I have combination skin and I don’t get any oiliness, it simply leaves my skin supple and smooth, but soft to the touch. The scent also is not overwhelming. I’m not particularly a fan of the scent of olive oil so I was a little worried. To my surprise, it has a feint orchid, orange, lemon scent.

Overall

This is a very nice brand that supports a lot of the causes that I am interested in so I always waiting for what they are going to put out next. I truly enjoy this serum and would absolutely purchase it again. It is a nice mid-range brand that gives you a serum that actually does what it claims (which is rare). If you are on the market for a new hydrated serum, I would recommend giving this one a try.
