REVIEW: Black Girl Sunscreen
Just one look at you and I know it’s gonna be a lovely day. I have been using this SPF for almost a month now. I must say I am so in love with it!
Black Girl Sunscreen
The Ultra-Sheer Face and Body SPF retails on the website for $18.99 and comes with 3 fl oz of product (89 ml, when most come with 50 ml!!!!) so you’re getting a decent amount of product.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is broad-spectrum sun protection so you’ll get both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) protection. It has a thicker creamy consistency, no scent, doesn’t leave a cast. It will initially feel a bit heavier than other sunscreens I’ve tried. But when it melts into the skin you’re not going to feel like it’s sitting on top of your face. It will leave your skin with a healthy sheen. If that’s something you don’t quite enjoy you can put a bit of translucent powder on your problem areas. I have combination-oily-acne prone skin and this hasn’t been a problem for me in terms of oil.
I find I don’t have to wear a moisturizer underneath the spf because it adequately soothes the skin. This will make it work beautifully as a winter sunscreen. Despite the name, it is designed to be unisex, for all skin types and complextions, with simple, elegant packaging.
It is infused with Jojoba and Avocado oils. The active ingredients are Avonenzone, Homoslate, Octisalate and Octocrylene so this is an organic spf. And is water-resistant for 80 minutes It is also free of Oxybenzone and Octinoxate so it is CORAL REEF SAFE!
Finding a good sunscreen for very dark skin has been a journey this past decade. It is so empowering to know that I am supporting a brand that has gone through the same struggle that I have. The Black Creators developed this product with people LIKE ME in mind. It is a product that I proudly hype because it is just that good. ⠀⠀⠀
Black Girl Sunscreen also comes in a kids version for face and body well so everyone is protected! It retails on their website for $9.99 CAD. It features the same naturally derrived ingredient infusions including Chammomile, Shea Butter, Jojoba, Carrot Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil and Avocado. I haven’t personally tried this one but my 13 year old cousin absolutely loves how this applies on her skin.
