REVIEW: Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse

A good conditioner is hard to find; one that gives your skin the right amount of moisture, with enough slip to de-tangle your curls with ease. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse.

Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse

This is the Macadamia's Moisturizing Rinse. It retails for $32.00 CAD on the Macadamia Professionals website. I got mine at Winners for $20.00 CAD. The website is currently under construction (likely the are reformulating etc), but you can find it on Amazon as well. It is a bit more expensive at the moment.

I have had this rinse for a while now. I had previously started using it in January 2018. My hair back then was very dry and damaged. I applied it into my hair soaking wet and combed it through. And it felt really nice the hair, had plenty of slip and totally love de-tangling with it. My only issue was that when I washed it out, and blow-dried my hair, it gave me a weird texture. My hair is normally very soft and silky after blow-drying but it felt coarse, thick, and a dry kind of oily. It did not dry the way I know my hair blows out.

I stopped using the rinse for a while and read up a bit on the instructions. I love to deep condition so I left the Moisturizing Rinse in for longer than directed. I thought maybe this was the reason I had experienced these kinds of results.

After months of using other products, my hair is now more healthy and I have a good regimen. I decided to give the Macadamia Moisturizing Rinse another try and made sure to leave it in for the directed 3 minutes. I experienced the same silky smooth, easy de-tangling slip as before, my hair felt so soft dripping wet. When I went to blow dry, I worked in my leave-in condition,  I sprayed a healthy amount of heat-protectant in my hair and combed it through evenly. I blow-dried on medium heat as normal. My hair blow-dried really fast but I still found that it left my hair not as soft as usual. It felt like a weird texture between oily and dry.

I have never had a conditioner make my hair feel like this. I really did not like how it left my hair once I dried it. The scent is amazing, it's easy to comb through but my hair simply does not like this rinse at all. I won’t be using Macadamia's rinse in my hair. Now, of course, I don't like to waste product so I will either use it or give it to a friend but with such a high price tag, I honestly expect it to do much more for my hair. I've heard many great things about the conditioner which encouraged me to give it a try but my hair simply does not like it so I won't be repurchasing it.
