REVIEW: Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar from Jaboneria Marianella
Ahh, one of my favourite at home SPA essentials : BODY SCRUBS
This is a scrub that I recently got my hands on in my FabFitFun box. The Hawaiian Black Lava Caviar from Joboneria Marianela. It comes with 7.2 oz of product and retails on their website for $48.00 USD. It is a natural, dead sea salt based scrub that polishes the skin leaving it smooth and soft. The oil combination Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Soy Bean Oil leave the skin feeling supple and moisturized. I’ve used this black lava for 4 months now and today I’m sharing with you my thoughts on the product.
I got mine at a 20% discount in my FabFitFub box. Use my link to get $20 off your first box and enjoy the perks of the FFF community. Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar
This black lava is formulated with “No Parabens, No Alcohol, No Silicones, No Phthalates, No Propylene Glycol, No Nitrosamines, No Harsh Chemicals and No Animal Testing” which of course is music to my ears.
Instructions
“How to Use: Mix Body Caviar thoroughly so the oils and salts combine into a luxurious paste. In the shower or bath, after your daily bathing ritual apply Body Caviar and massage over wet body with hands, gently scrub thoroughly, rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Your skin will be left feeling wonderfully moisturized and pampered. “
And as it mentions on the website, it is not to be used on the face.
My Experience
I had put off trying this product after receiving it in my seasonal FabFitFun box (I had other scrubs in my beauty cabinet - yes cabinet - to finish first). Now since using it, I really don’t know why I didn’t use this earlier. While my face tends to be on the oilier side of combination skin, neck-down, my skin is SUPER dry. Especially here in Toronto when windchill makes winter that much colder with whopping -30 C, it is necessary for me to thoroughly moisturize my skin.
I find that the perfect oil-salt ratio of a moisturizing body scrub is often hard to come by. Scrubs are either too dry or too oily but to my surprise, this one is Goldilocks Approved. The scrub coats the skin in a medium thick consistency black oil and works its way into wet skin. I don’t find that I need to put a lot of moisturizer on my skin afterwards because this does the job for me. I’ve used it all winter-long so it gets the CANADIAN WINTER READY approval stamp from me.
The black oil does get a bit messy though because it leaves your bathtub coated in black oil, and your body will also be covered in a layer of black tint until you shower the next day. I haven’t notice it leave stains on my clothing so that’s good, but that probably is mostly because during Winter I don’t wear a lot of white anyway. If you have tried this scrub please let me know about the black tint. What I do appreciate is that even though it is so moisturizing and oily, I don’t fear for my life every time I try to step out of the bathtub.
Overall, I recommend this if you don’t mind the black coating it leaves on your skin, you want a scrub that is going to thoroughly moisturize your skin, while giving you a nice smooth finish.
