REVIEW: Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum

This is the Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum from Peter Thomas Roth. It retails on Sephora for $83.00 CAD. It is a light weight hydrator that claims to combact dryness, dullness of the skin, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles. It is 75% Hyaluronic Acid which helps to sooth “dehydrated skin with vital nourishment, imparts a look of youthful radiance, and smooths the appearance of fine lines and rough skin texture.”

I tried this serum for 3 months, and today I am sharing what I think of the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum.

My Experience

I am in my early 20s, and I have combination-acneic (acne-prone), hyper-pigmented , dehydrated skin that is mildly sensitive.

On first contact, this serum has a thin luxurious feel, its extremely smooth and absorbs so quickly into the skin. Although I’ve noticed almost too quickly. A few lesser quality HA’s that I have used tend to leave a sticky consistency to the skin as you work the product in. They almost come to a lather before absorbing into the skin. I am very happy that I don’t experience that with this one. The Cloud Serum mixes well with the other products that I add into my skincare routine, and I did not experience any irritation whatsoever with this product. It leaves my skin smooth to the touch.

At first when I used the Water Drench Cloud Serum, I found it truly prepared my skin and kept it very hydrated, but with continued use, I notice my skin’s moisture levels actually start to decrease. I realized this is because Hyaluronic acid isn’t a hydrator, in and of itself. You need to create a moist environment for it to work as desired.

The difference between Moisturizers vs Hydrators

Applying the Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum when my face was wet or when I just came out of the shower, I noticed how hydrated my skin felt. Note to self: never apply HA on dry skin. Take a shower, steam your face, or mist your face then apply this on for best results. When used correctly, it absolutely plumped my skin and my smile lines hidden so I can say it truly made a difference in my skin after use.

I really got this serum to help add hydration into my skin. Although it feels very luxurious and applies nicely, absorbs quickly, mixes well with my other skin products, I don’t feel as though it truly made a huge difference in my skin compared to other HA’s to justify the price tag. I think that those with drier skin-types, or aging skin would truly benefit from its effects in terms of fine lines, and dullness. I continue to use this product and am almost done the bottle. It s a great hyaluronic acid but is simply too expensive.
