How to Fight Tech Neck

Just like your face, the neck is comprised of very delicate skin cells, and is one of the first places to show signs of aging. Excessive use of technology (if you're on your phone right now -- you fall into this category) may be making things worse. The average person looks downward to their phone about 221 times a day! (That's a lot of looking down!). In addition, habitual squinting when looking at these screens that give you lives around the eyes. These repeated motions can become permanent, resulting in horizontal neck lines and saggy skin; Tech Neck.

While I'm sure you're not going to put the phone down for too long, (as I'm sure you've just got another notification while taking the two minutes to read this), but there are a few things you can do to get on top of Tech Neck to both heal and prevent further tech damage!

3 SIMPLE WAYS TO FIGHT TECH NECK

  1. Good Posture

    • Keep your chin up; try looking down less often. When you're looking the phone, hold it upwards rather than downwards to bring the phone to your view rather than the other way around

  2. detox from your devices

    • Make a daily "no phone zone" ritual by setting aside a tech-free zone each day to give your neck and your eyes a break. Take this time to interact with the world around you, go for a walk, or a to the beach!

  3. Moisturize

    • If you aren't already using aging creams, you should be. But did you know that you can bring the cream down to your neck? Your neck has a similar delicate skin texture to your face. Bring both your moisturizer and anti-aging cream down to your neck to combat lines.
